AYSO 116: Bonita/East Chula Vista

CORE PROGRAM

What is AYSO’s CORE Program?
This is another name for AYSO’s Primary program, which is home to the majority of our players. With our Philosophies laced throughout, our Core Program is the nation’s leading grassroots soccer program.

Our Grassroots program is the foundation for all the fun, excitement, and learning that happens on the fields! We have developed our soccer program to be age-appropriate and developmentally challenging based on our Six Philosophies, which are the essence of AYSO’s Mission and Vision and guide all that we do.

Who is it for?
For the Fall 2025 season, this is for kids who would be in our 6U (born in 2020) - 16U (born in 2010).  

How does it work?
Divisions 6U-8U are non - competitive. 
Divisisons that are 10U and up are competitive.  Team formations will take place at a draft, after player assessments.  

When will it take place?
AYSO Region 116 now offers a Fall and Spring season. 
Fall practices start in August, Games start in September and the season ends in November. 
Spring practices start in February, Games start in March and the season ends in May. 

Our Fall 2025 Calendar has just been finalized, and games will be held the following Saturdays:

September 13th
September 20th
October 4th
October 11th
October 18th
October 25th
November 1st
November 8th
November 15th

Where will it be?
Practice will be held at a park in East Chula Vista.  Specific parks are designated for this purpose.  We will provide the park locations once they are finalized from the city. 

Games will also be held at either a park or at the soccer fields at Bonita Vista Middle School.

Older Divisions may travel to other local regions for away games. 

What is the Cost?

  • Region 116 Registration Fee: $130 (fee covers uniform- jersey, shorts and socks, pictures and insurance)
  • AYSO National Fee $25 (covers the Fall 2025/Spring 2026 season)
  • Early Bird Discount: Register by June 15th, 2025 for a $30 discount
  • Late Fee: added to Registrations processed after July 15th, 2025 - $20
  • Sibling Discount (if applicable) - $30 discount

SCHOOLYARD (5U) AND PLAYGROUND (4U) PROGRAMS

What are AYSO’s Schoolyard and Playground Programs?

These programs are specifically designed for our youngest players where children learn soccer skills like kicking, dribbling, passing and shooting in a non-competitive format. They are designed to introduce players to the game of soccer, in a fun and safe environment, without the pressure to win. 

Who is it for?

For the Fall 2025 season:
The Playground (U4) will be catered to children who are born in 2022. (This is our FIRST season offering this program!)
The Schoolyard program (U5) will be catered to children who are born in 2021.

How does it work?

  • There are no weekday practices. Two sessions will be held on Saturdays only. You can choose and show up to the session that best fits your schedule.
  • There are no set teams. Parents should check-in 15 minutes before start time under the canopy to get assigned to a field. Sessions will be conducted by trainers with the support of volunteer coaches.
  • Sessions will be 25 minutes of drills, then 25 minutes of scrimmage. 
  • Children will get water breaks throughout the session. All players get a snack bag the region provides as they come off the field.

These programs are currently offered in the Fall season only. 

Where will it be?
The exact park location for practices and games will be updated once we have it.  We can confirm practice will be at a park in East Chula Vista.

EPIC PROGRAM

What is AYSO’s EPIC Program?
The mission of the AYSO Everyone Plays In our Community (EPIC) is to provide a quality soccer experience for individuals whose physical or mental disabilities make it difficult for them to successfully participate on mainstream soccer teams.

Who is it for?
Everyone Plays In our Community (EPIC) team(s) are for players with special needs. Residence in the Chula Vista/Bonita area is not required. Any child wishing to learn about soccer is welcome.

How does it work?

AYSO EPIC Teams are split into an Older and Younger Division, both under the leadership of volunteer coaches. This program will be run with the support of paid trainers.  

When will it take place?
EPIC is offered in the Fall season only. 

Where will it be?
Practices for the EPIC team have historically been held at Marisol Park.  We will finalize and confirm the park location once we get it from the city.  All AYSO EPIC teams are traveling teams. They play games on their home fields and alternate traveling to games with other AYSO EPIC teams in Rancho Penasquitos, La Mesa, El Cajon, Mira Mesa and Tierrasanta. Teams may also play tournaments in Pico Rivera, San Clemente and Santee.  

What is the cost?
Fee is $50 total. This registration fee includes, uniform (jersey, shorts and socks), pictures and insurance.
